IXO Rotary Sputtering Target at 99.99% Purity
For buyers evaluating sputtering targets for display and photovoltaic coating lines, the purity figure on the datasheet is often the first checkpoint — and the last thing they should stop at. This article takes the IXO rotary sputtering target, with a purity of ≥99.99% (wt%), as an example to outline what high purity means and how to qualify it before volume orders.
What 99.99% purity means: a purity of ≥99.99% (wt%) means the total impurity level is controlled within 0.01%. Lower impurity levels reduce the probability of film defects caused by impurities, which matters for coating lines where surface quality and film uniformity are key requirements. It is a meaningful indicator, though not the only one.
Beyond purity: batch-to-batch consistency. A single high-purity batch does not guarantee that the next one will match. Buyers are advised to specify purity and consistency requirements, together with inspection methods, in the supply agreement.
