ITO Targets for Touch Screens and Flexible Displays: Key Requirements
Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) targets play a critical role in the manufacturing of touch screens and flexible displays. As consumer electronics evolve toward thinner, lighter, and bendable form factors, the requirements for ITO transparent conductive films are becoming more demanding.
For touch screens, the ITO film must combine high visible light transmittance with low sheet resistance to ensure accurate and responsive touch sensing. Impurities in the target can lead to localized defects that affect signal uniformity. Therefore, a target purity of ≥99.99% is essential for high-yield touch screen production.
For flexible displays, the challenge is even greater. ITO films need to maintain conductivity under repeated bending, which requires optimized film thickness and stress control to minimize cracking that could degrade performance. This also places higher demands on target density and microstructure uniformity. A relative density of ≥99.5% helps reduce particle generation during sputtering, resulting in smoother and more durable films.
UV Tech Material LTD. (UVTM), a national-level SRUI "Little Giant" enterprise established in 2003, offers ITO targets in both rotary and planar specifications, with a purity of ≥99.99% and a typical relative density of ≥99.5% of theoretical density. The targets are manufactured using cold isostatic pressing, high-temperature sintering, and bonding processes.
As of August 2026, the company has obtained over 100 effective patents, including 73 invention patents and 34 utility model patents. Supported by its extensive patent portfolio and a 35,000+ square meter standardized production base, UVTM has achieved large-scale manufacturing capabilities for cold isostatic pressing and high-temperature sintering processes. UVTM's ITO targets are widely used in flat panel displays, touch screens, solar photovoltaics, precision optics, and energy-saving smart glass industries. The company offers comprehensive technical support from material customization and backplane bonding to large-area sputtering applications.
